HOPE FOR THE CHILDREN OF AFRICA (HOCA) PROJECT
Charity Chic is partnering with Children International to build a community center in Africa. Originally planned for Kenya, the community center project may be relocated to Zambia due to political troubles in Kenya. Charity Chic has committed to raising $50,000 and finding 50 sponsors for African Children.

GOAL #1: $50,000

GOAL #2: 50 Sponsors

STATUS UPDATE:

Over $25,000 has been raised for this cause, and we are at 50% of our target. Thanks to all of you who are rapidly helping us along, including the XL Foundation, the Sisters, Frank Garcia, and dozens of personal contributors.  We still need to recruit our 50 sponsors, so if you are interested in taking a more personal role as a sponsor please contact us. We also are looking to bring volunteers to the project site for the opening ceremony, so get in touch if you are interested in an African Adventure!

EVENTS SUPPORTING THIS PROJECT:

Children Internation Reception - October 23

Children International was established over 70 years ago to help children and families around the world living in dire poverty. Today, we serve over 300,000 needy children through our signature sponsorship program that emphasizes health care, education and benefits designed to help them overcome the challenges and struggles of poverty.

We're excited about our ongoing campaign to serve 400,000 by 2011 - our 75th anniversary. Not only are we growing in the number of children, we are also expanding our infrastructure to serve more children by constructing new community centers in the poverty stricken areas where we work.

To help us achieve these strategic goals, Children International friends and supporters around the country are coming together to share their experiences with their own circle of friends.

Please Join Us!

Erica Mohr and Megan Miller, together with Children International, would like to invite you to become an agent of change for children in Africa.

We'd like you to meet Ibrahim and Theresia!

Ibrahim

Theresia

Ibrahim and Theresia are currently enrolled English-medium boarding schools near Arusha, Tanzania. Funds raised by Charity Chic go toward their tuition, books, clothing, and supplies.

"I met Ibrahim and Theresia at an orphanage during a volunteer trip to Tanzania in 2003. I was immediately drawn to them by their intelligence, good manners, and artistic abilities. In spite of their harsh circumstances, both were innocent and fun loving children who quickly won my heart. I knew with a good education these kids could have a better chance of becoming successful, and giving back to their communities. Your support in this endeavor is greatly appreciated!" - Megan Miller, Executive Director
